Burgundy Cooking Experience
We are pleased to offer a Burgundy Cooking Experience with Alex Miles each Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The experience includes a guided visit of the Dijon food market in the morning and the cooking demonstration is then followed in a kitchen in Dijon. The Burgundy fare is enjoyed for lunch! Should you wish to participate in the experience, please let us know in advance. The cost is 150 euros per person (the price is based on at least four people – for two people the cost is 200 euros per person).
Alex Miles is a chef de cuisine and pastry chef. He has lived in France for over 25 years and has worked with the world famous Lenotre in Europe and in the US. He had 5 French pastry shops of his own in New York and lectures throughout France on French and American culinary history and culture.
The culinary experience is about cooking the dishes French people make at home. There will be a visit to the local market in the morning where produce and products will be selected on the spot for the luncheon meal. Alex is well known in the markets of Burgundy and knows those merchants who make and sell the best products. The recipes will be prepared with the participants who will join in the cooking demonstration...then lunch is enjoyed! This class is not only about cooking and recipes but also the significance of food in French daily life.
Alex has a radio show where he interviews chefs and writes books about food and appears on French television programs dealing with food and culture. He has written many press articles, is the author of "Ces hommes qui cuisine", (Men in the Kitchen), eds. Agnès Vienot, 2005, and is working on a new book to appear in 2008.
